History
Back in 1987, the financial health of Unity Medical Center was very different from what it is today.
The rural healthcare facility was struggling to make ends meet, but a local group was formed to ensure the future of UMC because the Grafton community knew that if they didn't support it, it would close and they would have to drive 40 miles to the nearest hospital for care. Our inaugural Foundation board members were Wally DeSautel, Phyllis Kennelly, Lon Lessard, Nels Midgarden and Clayton Mohagen.
From there, the Foundation would host special events annually to raise funds for their beloved hospital, and it grew into the strong healthcare provider it is today.
