Dr. Karin Lokensgard
Dr. Karin Lokensgard received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of North Dakota and has worked at both Sanford and Altru, as well as Student Health at the University of Minnesota. She cares for patients from newborn to nursing home residents, and especially enjoys the variety of medical challenges that each stage of life presents. She said, “My patients are my favorite thing about being a doctor. Every day I am inspired by their life stories and their personal challenges. It is a privilege to work with them in their journey toward better health.”
The path that led her to Unity Medical Center is quite unique. She had recently left her previous clinic, disillusioned and disappointed with the state of the current healthcare system and was contemplating her next move. One day while driving through Grafton, she saw the Unity Medical Center billboard advertising the four physicians. Personally knowing two of them, she had high regard for their style of caring for patients and their personal character. She shared, “I was amazed that with physician shortages across the country, Unity Medical Center was able to have four and thought they must be doing something right.”
